There are a number of CMMi (process improvement) frameworks for different aspects of software engineering, including services, acquisition and development. The CMMi for development is the most relevant one regarding software testing. There is a model download section, which has a word version. There are over 500 pages to the CMMi for software development framework, but the majority of this is concerned with process improvement.

CMMi, a process improvement framework, provides a definition of high level process goals for software development. One criticism many people have, when first reviewing the material is that there is little or no ‘how to’ type of information. The main point, and usefulness, of the CMMi frameworks is that they position the processes for control and measurement in relation to each other.
